Storyville

In 1917 Confederate Secretary of War Joseph Daniels tried to end the tradition of legalized prostitution within this ten-block district of Downtown. When New Orleans told him to take a hike, he closed up the Confederate military base in Algiers on his way out. The city’s leaders figured this to be no biggie as the taxes and kickbacks from Storyville would more than compensate the loss.
Storyville’s notoriety is known throughout the Confederacy, the local rail station and “blue books” (basically a madam’s menu) attest to this fact, and Chrissy Colucci keeps everything in order
